Food, Doctor, and James..

Big news in the world of Tommy--finger foods!   He LOVED his first taste of avocado, as you can see in the pictures.  He is picking up some of it with his fingers (for my OT friends, his pincer grasp is quite advanced), but it was pretty slippery (which made it more fun!!)

We also went for a check-up at the doctor this week.  Tommy is definitely a growing boy, so please be sure to VOTE on what percentile you think he is in length.  Just a hint...  at this rate, his dreams of playing shooting guard on the basketball team are lost, and he won't be able to break all those 3-point records set by his Uncle T.J. back in the 90s...

Tommy also got to hang out with his friend, James!  James is a super cool guy (9 months old) that lives in our building.  James has a large collection of really awesome big boy TOYS that Tommy enjoyed.  He made sure to slobber on every one of them!  Thanks James (and his sweet mom Susie) for fun!

Nana & Papa Visit

This past weekend Nana & Papa Piazza came to visit!  Tommy was all smiles and had fun playing with them.  Kate fixed one of her mom's favorite recipes, Spanish Rice, and amazingly it turned out decent!  Tommy got to show Nana & Papa how he sits up on his own, and they also got to see his 2 new teeth in action!  (you can't really see the teeth, but you can feel them and he likes to chew on everything!)  Tommy also played some basketball with Papa and got lots of kisses from his Nana--a lot of fun for a snowy Saturday!!

My Buddy Ben

Luke, Nici, and Ben Butkus came to visit last weekend.  Ben is Tommy's best friend (well, one of his only friends)...  They had a pretty good time playing together, and their dads had a good time drinking Red Stripe beer.  We get together with the Butkus' about once a month, and always have a lot of fun.  We have already planned that the boys will one day follow in their dads' footsteps--they'll go to college together, be roommates, and play football.  (or some type of sport;  The way they both are crying at strangers lately makes me think that golf could be it...)  Regardless, they're destined to be buddies for life!

Vacation '09

We just got back from Tommy's first vacation! (well, a few weeks ago, but I am just now starting the blog)  We went to Ft. Myers Beach, FL, with Grandma and Grandpa Posey.   The plane ride was awesome, and everyone on the plane loved Tommy... the flight attendants even gave him a set of wings, a certificate, and a big hug!  What a ladies' man.  He had such a blast, minus the fact he had the flu for most of the trip.  He was such a trooper though!  He went through about 80 diapers over the course of 4 days, but we were spared diaper rash...whew!  He absolutely  loved beach.  He got to hang out in the cabana (on the days he could go down there) and even got to mix it up in the sand a bit.  He was very interested in the birds on the beach.  Grandma and Grandpa had fun, too, however, Grandma also got the flu!  But she was a trooper as well, and was able to hit the beach a few days and get a nice tan.  Grandpa and Nick drank about 100 Coronas, and got to golf, so they were happy.  And as for me, the trip was very re-energizing... nothing can compete with weather where you don't have to cover every inch of your body with clothing! (unlike here in bitter cold Chi-town) Although it was unseasonably cooler there according to the locals, I'll take the 60s and 70s over the negative temps any day!
